February Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

I trust that you all had a great holiday break during the very hot festive season. February is already here and before you know it we’ll be midway through the year already! We have a varied line up of bands and events that are shown in this newsletter. Check out our flyers during class times for any additional updates and events. Please read carefully the following information that relates to the operational workings of Breakaways and events

As we are a not for profit club we rely solely on your patronage whether as members or friends. The true backbone of Breakaways are our highly valued volunteers, who go above and beyond their duties for the club.

The benefits of having membership entitles you to a free barbeque that is held in November at Pelican Park Clontarf, where you can relax and mingle with everyone.

Of course in keeping with our Breakaways club activities, there will be a dancefloor set up where, as you guessed it, dancing will definitely be a part of the day. Burgers, sausage sizzle and an assortment of food, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee will be available.

Another benefit for members is Free entry to our Christmas Party where music and dancing will be in full swing. This is the time where everyone dresses up in their favourite red and green Christmas outfits. But wait there’s more. Throughout the year, members are entitled to Discounted entry for our social dance nights and classes.

Greazefest will be happening from 4th– 6th August at Redlands showgrounds and will be a great three day event for nostalgia lovers of Rock’n’ Roll.

Throughout the year we have our local favourite “Rock’nRoll Sundays where you can spend the afternoon dancing to live music from 1-5pm.

A BIG WELCOME to our new Breakaways members. In our club we have a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere while promoting a positive learning environment.

A big thank you to our current members for your support of Breakaways. Without our valued members, Breakaways would not survive.

Please take time to have a look at our flyers which promote our future events. This will give you a choice of which dance event you would like to attend.

On arrival to the venue we ask that you please present your valid membership card (if not please renew) and sign the book for our records.

During class times we ask that you be cognizant of our dance instructors and refrain from talking while they are teaching, as it makes it difficult for others who are trying to concentrate and learn the moves.

Reminders throughout newsletter.

As a suggestion we also ask that you bring a sweat towel

and a change of clothes for comfort for those of you who sweat profusely.

As you will see we have social nights with local bands to

give our members an opportunity to come and put into practice what they have learnt and to socialise.

As a member you will, note our “Code of Conduct” on the back of the membership form. Please read our rules and regulations that governs the organisational workings of the club.

The “Code of Conduct” will inform you of your rights and responsibilities regarding Breakaways Rock ’n’ Roll Club values.

Be sure to check our Facebook page, and newsletter for your further knowledge.

As a not-for-profit club we can only survive with your patronage.

We can’t compete with the larger licensed venues that offer free entry and entertainment. We exist because of your ongoing membership, your involvement as volunteers and as friends of Breakaways.

If you’re available and would like to contribute, you too can volunteer by helping us set up and pack up on the dance nights. For that we are grateful.

If you have any special skills that would be beneficial to the club, please let us know.

PRIVATE DANCE LESSONS are also available for students who wish to learn at their own pace. Enquiries to Jean and John.

Welcome aboard.

Best wishes,

Cihan (Jean) Mustafa
